 Dunsfold Aerodrome
Dunsfold Park Ltd (a joint venture between The Rutland Group and The Royal Bank of Scotland) proposes to construct a new town on the site of the former Dunsfold Aerodrome. If this is allowed to happen a very special part of rural Surrey with its natural beauty and amenities will be critically damaged forever.
A formal planning application to Waverley Borough Council was made on 4th April 2008. The previous day DPL was denied Eco-town status by the Housing Minister
Caroline Flint. According to the Government over 40 applications including Dunsfold Park were rejected "for being
undeliverable or not ambitious enough to meet the high environmental and
affordability standards set by Government." This is an important statement as the application relies heavily on it creating "Britain's most sustainable village." Waverley Borough Council will take up to two weeks to process the 22 documents before registering the application.
South West Surrey's MP Jeremy Hunt and Guildford's MP Anne Milton have also publicly questioned the developer and expressed their concern over the plans. Read More....
In September 2007 Government Inspectors decided that the Dunsfold Park development was unsustainable when reporting on the draft South East Plan. Read more....

Some reasons why a New Town should not be allowed |
 Dunsfold Wood
- Completely unsuitable rural location in the heart of the Surrey countryside. Dunsfold Aerodrome was farm land until the Canadian Air Force turned it into an emergency airfield in the Second World War
- Most, if not all, of the site is greenfield. The brownfield, if it exists, presumably relates to the industrial buildings which is not where the housing will be built (on the grassland surrounding the runways)
- Unacceptable extra traffic on narrow country lanes and the A281 (critically worsening the Bramley bottleneck) and A283 which will affect all routes and rat runs to the A3 as well as roads to the south of Dunsfold.
- A new town would be against all current and proposed planning policy - the Surrey Structure Plan, the draft South East Plan and the Waverley Borough Adopted Local Plan.
- Suitable sites for meeting Waverley's planned need for additional homes over the next ten years have already been identified by the Borough Council. There is no housing need for a new town.
- Affordable housing - isn't it better to put this into the towns and villages where it is required rather than putting it all into one place? Incidentally this scheme would produce far more affordable housing than Waverley needs
- Inadequate water supply and other infrastructure such as schools, doctors, dentists, emergency services etc.

- Register your support for our campaign and make a donation using the link below. If you can give active help (particularly if you can offer a specialist skill) that would also be very helpful. It is extremely important that as many people as possible make their objections known. In due course, once the application has been formally registered, you should also object to Waverley Borough Council. If you give us your email address when you register we will make sure you are kept up to date with relevant news.
- Tell all your friends about the campaign and this website. Not just your friends in the villages closest to the site, but also those in other parts of Waverley such as Bramley, Chiddingfold and Milford and indeed the whole of Surrey and Sussex. This issue affects everyone who is concerned about saving our beautiful countryside for future generations.
- Make a Donation towards funding the Campaign. To fight this we need a large war chest to hire the best professionals to argue our case and fund publicity campaigns. Even if Waverley turn down the application Dunsfold Park will almost certainly go to appeal and a public enquiry maywell be called. We are talking a long time and lots of money. Please donate using the link below or by sending a cheque to SDPNT Ltd. PO Box 717 Dunsfold Surrey GU8 4WF
